Theology is the study of all aspects of God based on the teachings of the Bible. Theology matters! It shapes our worldview which impacts how we live our lives. Correct theology undergirds sound doctrine, sound doctrine leads to right thinking, and right thinking promotes godly behavior. God uses theology to humble us and make us grateful for who He is, what He has done and what He will do. The inevitable result is worship, and our holy God is glorified!
To this end, we invite you to open your Bible and embark on this journey to know God. We trust that this study will bring new insights and convictions and inspire joy and awe leading you to worship Him. We believe your heart and mind will be transformed and we pray you will be excited and motivated to share these truths with others. All of this to the glory of God!
As we read and understand the story of God’s might as He freed Israel from Egypt, we get a helpful illustration of God’s redemption of sinners. Mankind is helplessly rebellious against God and enslaved in sin and yet in His mercy and kindness, through faith in Jesus Christ, He provides everything necessary for us to be freed from our bondage to sin and set apart to be His people. Beyond breaking our slavery, He adopts us as His children and through His power provides all things for us that pertain to life and godliness. Come stand in awe as you gaze upon our mighty and merciful God in Exodus!
Come stand in awe as you gaze upon our mighty and merciful God in Exodus!
The book of Joshua is significant in that it looks back and affirms God’s words in the first five books of the Bible (the Pentateuch) and then looks ahead to the fulfillment of His promises, not only in of Joshua but in all of scripture. Joshua means “the Lord saves” and in the Greek form is translated Jesus. What a fitting name for this Old Testament leader whose obedient life effectively points us to Jesus Christ, the perfect Savior! As followers of Christ today, God’s promises of an inheritance and rest, point us to the sure reality of a future without sin dwelling in the presence of the King of kings and Lord of lords. Hallelujah!
There are so many reasons to study the Psalms! We have so much to gain from them in learning how to worship God with praise and thanksgiving. The psalms also teach us how to seek God and cling to Him in trials. The psalms show us how to meditate on God’s character and find hope in who He is. The psalms demonstrate the value of reviewing the past faithfulness of God as it brings us to worship and praise and trust Him regardless of our current circumstances.
Oh, the joy and comfort that awaits our souls as we learn from the psalmists to meditate on God’s might and justice, His faithfulness and steadfast love, His power toward and care for His people!
